Polar Bear Plunge 2009

My husband Josh participated with his company in the Polar Bear Plunge this year. They raise money for the Special Olympics of Kentucky.
I was so incredibly proud of him.
We went down to the river around 11 for him to sign in and get ready. There was a huge turnout, I didn't realize so many people participated but was glad to see that.
The boys were so cold since it was in the 30s and it was incredibly windy. Shannon went with me to help with the boys and we ended up having leave at about 12:30. It also started to sleet when we were leaving. I took Shannon and the boys back to the house and missed Josh's plunge.
He said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be, even though the water and the outside temperature were in the 30s
They had a hottub waiting for everyone who plunged so they could warm up.

If you'd like to donate you can still visit his company's website through the Polar Bear Plunge's website for donations.
They raised $2,245 out of their $5,000 goal so far!

Carl Casper Auto Show

Sunday we took the boys to the Carl Casper Auto Show with Kristen, Jesse & Isabella.
We got four free tickets through my work from Insight since we do advertising with them.
We figured the boys would love it since they're obsessed with cars.
They really did seem to enjoy it.
Poor Taylor fell asleep in the stroller before we got around to the Batmobile which they were really really excited about.
I had to tell Callum that Batman lent them his car since he wondered why he wasn't there.
They had other booths with people you could meet from soap operas and stuff.
Taylor went up to meet Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper....Callum wanted no part in it.
Darth and the Storm Trooper were wearing stupid tennis shoes! At least commit to the part! sheesh.

I had a good day yesterday. I got to hang out with Kristen, be silly and wander the mall.
I got the boys Wall-E. I didn't get to see the whole movie, so maybe I'll like it better when I sit and watch it.
The boys have been telling whoever will listen that they're sick and don't feel good.
Callum said I can't kiss him since he's sick.
We made quesadillas last night and hung out with the Tiptons. The boys adore Isabella and love when Kristen is around. She really makes them laugh.

I am that mom. I found it time to take some humiliating pictures of my handsome boys with their hair like little girls.
They loved it and I found it completely adorable. They said they looked like Nana.
They had me in a total giggle fit when they started wrestling on my bed with their hair like that.

As one of my mom's Christmas gifts us girls got together and had a portrait done of the three of us for her.
She is always trying to get a good one of us together at most family functions...so we figured she would really appreciate it.
She really did.
But, now that Christmas is over I can share!

Happy 2009

I stopped on the way home from work New Years Eve to get the boys some hats and us some stuff for over at Ash's.
When I got home they put on their hats and started running around saying "Happy Birthday"...then they learned "Happy New Year!".
Taylor snapped the rubber band on his "king" hat, so then he decided he only wanted to wear tiaras.
I asked him on video to wish me Happy New Year and his response was "It's NOT!" hahahaaha.
My child is a grumpy old man already.

Callum poo pooed in the potty the other night!!!! We made a huge deal out of it and I sang a song about it.
They thought that was funny.
At least that's moving in the right direction.
They are so excited for Santa coming to town.
I have a newfound excitement for Christmas morning all over again...and now for a totally different reason.
I really could care less what I get. As long as I get to see huge smiles on their faces.

My mom and the boys decorated the rest of the tree Sunday while Josh and I cleaned out our basement. It was junk pickup Monday and we had so much work to do.
We're trying to get it a bit cleared for Christmas Eve so we have another place for people to sit while they're here.
Anywho.......the boys love the tree.
They're always looking at it or going up and touching ornaments.
It's so cute.

The boys meet Santa

  • Dec. 9th, 2008 at 9:48 AM
Good Things
We went tonight to the Picture People to have the boys pictures taken.
We also took the boys by Santa Claus.
I hated how the girls were all about the picture and made them stop squeaking shit at the boys and just let them talk to Santa and take the picture that way.
It was more about having them meet him anyway.
They told him that they wanted cars and trucks and he gave them a coloring book that funnily enough was a story about twins!

Tub Poop!

I had my first experience with the tub poop last night.
Lawd!
eww.
I could tell that Callum was trying to poop so I got him out and sat him on his potty and he was so mad at me.
He just kept crying and screaming that he was cold and he told me he was mad at me for taking him out.
He wouldn't poop so I thought we were safe and put him back in the tub.
Then I saw a floater.
I was like "time to get out! now!"
They didn't really see it or know what was going on, so no mass hysteria from them.
I got to stay in the bathroom and strain out poops to put in the toilet.
Ahh the joys of parenthood.
I knew it would happen sooner or later.

Their first movie!

Family-wedding
We took the boys to their first movie yesterday! They did so good!
We went to see Madagascar 2 at 11:30.
Callum wanted to sit in the seat on his own and Taylor liked sitting up high in the booster.
Save for the last ten minutes they were quiet and watched the movie, then they wanted to come and sit with me.
I was so proud of them.
They seemed like old pros.
They loved the popcorn and Josh packed their diaper bags full of snacks.
We went to McD's after that and had lunch and they played in the playground.
So help me I wanted to kill some of the other parents.
Goodness people...it's not a babysitter, watch your kids.
Poor Callum was just getting ran over and pushed and kicked.
I was so mad.
All in all it was a good day yesterday.

2 year appointment

The boys had their first appointment with our family doctor. She was awesome. They loved her. I knew they would. We all really like her, so now they can hopefully have the same doctor for a long time.
She played with them and faked them in doing letting her check them with her stethoscope and stuff.
Callum was really happy that nothing serious happened during the visit. He's been so leary of people messing with him since his surgery.
I forgot our office visit copays were up to 30 now. Shit.
Taylor was 37 inches and 36lbs, Callum was 36 inches and I missed what his weight was because he was totally spazzing out. I'll have to call and ask.

I'm officially addicted to True Blood and since Friday evening have caught up on 9 back episodes, two more to catch up totally.

I think we're going to have an "open house" Christmas Eve party for our family and if friends want to come so we won't have to drive all over the city for Christmas day and actually enjoy it.
I hope we can get everything cleaned up and decorated in time.
Ugh. I can hardly believe I'm worrying about Christmas already.
I can't even believe it's almost December

We had a family get together Sunday since my Uncle Barry & Aunt Pam are in town. We finally got to see my cousin's son Cayden. He had him this past weekend. It was so cool to see the boys play together.
Cayden is about five or six months older than the boys.
He's gotten so big! He's about a head taller than Callum & Taylor. He has a really thick Kentucky accent! It's so cute.
